I grew up in the United States with immigrant Indian parents. Back then, there was very little representation of our heritage and it didn’t always capture the magnificence of it. Because of that, I wanted to fit in more with my American side. Thankfully, going to a diverse high school changed things. My new friends and I shared cultural experiences which made my Indian background not only seem normal, but exciting. Before I knew it, I was bringing dabeli to lunch and wearing churidars to sweet sixteens. While not everyone is lucky enough to have that diversity in schools or on the playground, I hope they find it in my products.

I wanted to create something that inspired kids to learn about their culture while also giving adults another form of connection to their roots. My hope is that the South Asian elements in in my products spark conversations between kids and their loved ones. My dream is that kids pick up a new instrument, try a new food, or learn a new game that was traditional to their ancestors.

Ultimately though, my products are not just for those with a South Asian heritage. With the help of modern-day technology, human connection has overcome the vastness of the world. Curiosity has been sparked and diversity has been applauded. People from all backgrounds are welcomed and encouraged to learn about South Asian foods, games, instruments, and more.
